Roof insurance claims in North Georgia
Reset documents storm damage and works with your carrier. You still own the policy. You decide whether a claim gets filed.
Do this first
1. Stay off a wet or steep roof.
2. If water is coming in, put a bucket under the drip and move furniture. Photograph the interior stain and the ceiling.
3. Photograph the yard: fallen limbs, hail, and missing shingles on the ground.
4. Call Reset at (770) 317-1237 for an inspection before you call the carrier’s 1-800 claims line—unless the damage is catastrophic, such as a tree through the deck, an open hole, or active flooding.
Opening a claim you did not need can follow the address on future premiums. That is why we inspect first on non-catastrophic jobs.
What Reset does
• Free homeowner inspection. Wind and hail damage is often invisible from the driveway; we get on the roof or use a drone.
• Photos and a written scope the adjuster can read.
• Meet the adjuster when that helps the file.
• Emergency dry-in when the house is open.
• Replacement or repair once coverage is determined.
You file the claim, or you authorize us to help you file. The carrier owes you, not us.
What you should have in the file
• Date and type of storm: hail, wind, or fallen tree
• Photos of the roof, attic, and interior stains
• Receipts for emergency tarping or tree work
• Your policy page for dwelling, other structures, and deductible
Timelines: typical, not a promise
• Inspection: often scheduled within a few days of your call
• Adjuster visit: set by the carrier, commonly one to three weeks after the claim number exists
• Build: after you approve the scope and materials are ordered
Georgia storm season is real—wind, hail, and downed trees hit Metro Atlanta every year. That does not mean every scuffed shingle is a paid claim.
What insurance usually will not buy
• A roof that is simply old
• Wear that started before the storm
• A deductible you still owe
• Work outside the covered cause of loss
If the honest recommendation is “repair it and skip the claim,” we will say that.
